Q. When should we contact a Marriage Celebrant?

A. As soon as you have selected a date to ensure that all legal paperwork is completed on time

 

Q. Can we choose our own ceremony?

A. Yes of course, your wedding ceremony should be unique and be a reflection of your personalities and your love for each other

 

Q. How long should the wedding ceremony be?

A. The ceremony can be as long or short as you would like it to be. There are two small criterias that need to be included but everything else is up to you.

 

Q. Can we get married with no other witnesses?

A. You will need to have at least 2 witnesses, other than a celebrant, who are over the age of 18 to witness the ceremony and sign documentation

 

Q. Can we get married at any location?

A. Yes, the ceremony can be conducted wherever you would like.  If it is being held at a public place you may need to gain permission from the owners  and register your intention.

 

Q. Can we get married today?

A. Before the ceremony can be completed you need to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with your celebrant no sooner than 1 month and 1 day prior to the ceremony date.

 

Q. We are under 18 can we get married?

A. You can get married after you have gained permission from the Court.

 

Q. Do I need to have a bridal party?

A. No, you can include as many or a little people in the wedding party as you like.

 

Q. Does my father need to give me away?

A. Only if you would like him or another family member to do so.  It is not a legal requirement.

 

Q. I have been married before what do I do?

A. If you are now a divorced person you will need to provide proof of the dissolution to your celebrant

 

Q. As the bride, do I sign in my maiden name?

A. Yes.

 

Q. As the bride, how do I change my name?

A. Once the ceremony has been completed you can automatically take on your husband’s surname.

 

Q. What identification do we require?

A. When we meet, you will need to provide your birth certificates and if not born in Australia you will also need to provide your passport.

 

Q. What costs are involved?

A. I charge $550 which includes the rehearsal, ceremony and lodgement of all paperwork. Read more on the pricing page
